Despite the controversy and protests surrounding the Rio +20, some important achievements can’t be forgotten. During the ten days of the conference were signed 705 voluntary agreements between governments, NGOs and other groups, including 500 companies, industries and universities.

Will be invested, over the next ten years, 513 billion dollars in major projects, associations, programs and actions about transport, energy, green economy, disaster reduction and environmental protection, desertification, climate change and other issues related to sustainable development.

To the Genereal Secretary of the Rio +20, Sha Zukang, voluntary agreements are a key part of the legacy of the Conference. “These agreements bring together the key global players in the same cause, achieve sustainable development,” he said.

We hope to see all the promises honored, in favor of our environment and future generations.
