Children of nature

New year, new life, right? That’s what most people think at this time of the year. But new life for whom? Because, as far as we understand, humans are not the only beings on the planet Earth. There is a wide variety of species which make our life somehow more favorable. Think about it: will trees have a new life? That is, will they no longer be felled and will they be able to finally live a real life? Will the endangered animals have the opportunity to live on this beautiful planet? Not even the water can get away from us unscathed and should have a right to survive.

Now let us consider the following question: every year we are reducing our biodiversity, we are running out of opportunities to get along well with the nature. The chances of ending up in an automated world surrounded by robots are getting closer and closer to our reality. And if we think about it, is that what we really want?

The planet is like our body. To work well it needs all the organs to be in good shape. Otherwise, the end will be the same: death. However, we do have the ability to improve it; after all, we are the only rational beings. This quality has to be useful for something, doesn’t it? Enough with exploring, extracting, and killing already. Enough! We have to cultivate, tend, and love!

A new decade is starting. We all know that if the situation continues like this, the consequences will not be the best. So let’s do something, let’s help those who live to make us live! Let’s save the trees which are fundamental to our breath, the animals that provide us with food, and even the plankton, which provides us with oxygen.

I hope that in this new decade we will set our selfishness aside and will be able to finally see that the world is not just ours, that we need all those who inhabit it. Therefore, I wish a Happy New Year and a new life to our dear Mother Nature! Because we know that we will only change our life when the nature is fine.
