Our Goodwil Ambassador granted an exclusive interview to Our Planet magazine, a publication of the United Nations Environment Programme, talking about environment, Biodiversity and what we can do to help. When asked about the problems faced by animals, Gisele said that “species are becoming extinct at the fastest rate known in geological history, and most of these extinctions are tied with human activities.”
Our Top also revealed that growing up in a small town allowed her to be in touch with nature as well as having visited the Indian tribe Xingu , in the Amazon, and facing the problems of the regions were encouraging to become an activist for the environment and water protection. Since then, Gisele has been working to draw attention to the environmental problems affecting our Planet. “I am happy to be able to use my image to bring attention to these important issues, and to lend visibility to the socio-environmental cause, calling attention to the problems the world is facing and, hopefully, persuade people to take action”, stressed the Top model.
But Gisele’s actions go beyond that. The interview highlighted the Água Limpa Project, an initiative of the Top and her family, which aims at implementing sustainable environmental management and promote the recovery of riparian vegetation and the small river basins in the region where she was born, in addition to the recognized social-environmental projects supported by her Gisele Bündchen sandal line. Our Top model also points out that small actions can make the difference, “I have the habit of recycling, and I save water when washing dishes, taking a shower, brushing my teeth”, highlighting that any action is important “even if it seems small”.
