Preparatory conference reaches the second day bringing together government’s representatives and members of society to prepare the final political document of Rio +20. Delegations from more than 193 countries seek consensus on the document to be signed by world leaders next week.

According to Rio+20 General Secretary, Sha Zukang, “There is a genuine spirit of commitment between the delegations to produce a document that can be adopted by the Heads of State and Government. Rio +20 will provide inspiration and guidance to accelerate progress on the sustainability agenda”.

After the preparatory conference and before the Rio +20, civil society and the private sector take the lead of the discussions with the events “Days of Dialogue”, 16-19 June, and the Forum for Corporate Sustainability UN Global Compact.

About 50 thousand people altogether are expected at the United Nations meeting  on Sustainable Development.

The Conference aims to present proposals for all countries to be able to eradicate extreme poverty and develop its economy without impacting the environment – both of the pillars of the so called “green economy”.
